Kirsty and I headed out one fine crisp morning to hike from out hostel to the top of Cairngorm Mountain. I'm not sure how far it was, but it took most of the day to get there and back. The temperature went from the 30s to the 70s in spots. We were shedding clothes like dancers in Vegas!
A bit foggy at the start, looks like the muskeg in Alaska.
Beautiful stream, crystal clear water. Cold.
About a third of the way up to the top. Getting a bit warmer.
This area is a ski resort in the winter. We took the "easy" route up. Not sure why straight up is the easy route, but maybe the Scots have a different meaning for that word. Or else they are messing with the tourists! That is Kirsty below.
The funicular train runs from the parking lot to a restaurant almost at the top of the mountain. The ride is about 8 minutes. Sissies ride it up. Okay, we rode it down to the parking lot but only for the experience. Not because we needed to. We still had to walk the 85 miles back to the hostel.
At the top! Largest cairn that we placed a small rock on.
View southeast from the top.
The red arrowhead is where we started from.
It was quite a walk, but well worth the effort!
Peace to you all!
