Yorkshire

We are staying at the Watson's place in Bilbrough, just outside of York. Martyn is in charge of four chicken farms in the area. He gets the chicks from a chick supplier, then grows them for 7 weeks to maturity, and then they are sold for processing. I was amazed that it only takes 7 weeks to grow a chicken for McNuggets. We visited York and walked about for the day, cruising around the stone wall around the city, visiting the York Minster, and having coffee in one of the wall towers. York is a very cool city!
The Watson's home.

 View from our bedroom upstairs.

Walking their two Labradors, Saffron (yellow one to the right) and Jasmine (the black one in the background), in the fields next to the house.

Here's Jasmine looking for something to eat.

I was schooled that this is straw, not hay. So my hay!!! joke doesn't work here.

Kirsty and the dogs heading back from a walk, past the chicken sheds.

The next pictures are of York.
Shambles is a cool part of town, shops and markets abound. Picked up some York Chutney. I haven't had proper chutney since leaving England so many years ago.

York Minster is a Gothic cathedral and one of the largest in Europe.

Guy Fawkes was baptized in the church next to the Minster (he was born in the pub across the street).

What remains of York castle.

We are laying on the grass next to the Minster, enjoying the day.

Walking the wall.

View from the wall.

Nice name for a street.

We had a cup of coffee here in this gate. It was first rented out as a house in 1376. I mean, really. . .

Walmgate Bar now. We entered the coffee shop from the top of the wall (about halfway up the picture on the right). The top of the shop is a reading room with three legged tables. Coolest place to hang out while quaffing a coffee and a scone.

One never knows what one will find when traveling about the world. This is Isla Watson out for a coffee and a bit of a muffin.

Off to Kirsty's mom's house in Withernwick after a few days with the Watsons. They are very good people, salt of the earth! Peace to you all my friends.
